Improving 
survival outcomes and experiences.

Greater Manchester Cancer is one of 21 Cancer Alliances across NHS England. They work with patients and professional across the medical industry to aim at improving the lives of people affected by cancer in Greater Manchester. I helped Greater Manchester Cancer with their rebrand, website build, and conference identity (Greater Manchester Cancer Conference).

I started with a comprehensive brand audit to learn about their brand and identify the areas to improve the overall brand experience. After the brand audit, I gathered patient feedback, and worked with the content manager to strategize on how to best position the new Greater Manchester Cancer brand to stand out as leaders in cancer education, enabling them to close the gap in the fight against cancer.

I created an evolved logo, and comprehensive brand guidelines for them, crafted a large set of brand illustrations, and helped them with the UX and UI of their website by engaging on many design sprints in collaboration with their communication teams, medical professionals, patients, and a web dev.

The new logo

At first glance this new logo represent a Greater Manchester Alliance with a hexagon shape mirroring the hexagon in a worker bee hive. Working together to achieve successful outcomes.

The brand book

I created brand guidelines that are very comprehensive and easy to navigate. The team wanted to create a powerful brand resource. After working in the industry for many years, I’ve noticed most brand guidelines fail to give users examples and instruction on “less sexy” creative executions like “how to” guidance for brand elements (i.e. illustration application, hand-drawn marks usage), and tone of voice “dos & don’ts” for copywriters—just to name a few. It is quite common in the industry that this book would be used for non-creatives to be using it so this brandbook doesn’t miss a thing which helps their content makers and shapers stay on-brand to make the brand shine in every marketing channel.
