Matillion Data Unlocked was the first user conference for Matillion. It's goal was to allow it's users to uncover new strategies, and explore new possibilities with their data. With an objective of launching new brand positioning into the market. The event was a virtual event for data professionals. Including some by invitation only in person, followed by three regional events held at AMC in NYC, Chicago, and LA.

 

I was tasked by the CMO, to work with a creative agency to develop a concept for this event. Including a landing page, promotional material, social content, and much more. 


We started by defining the objectives and goals, using the brand proposition, and new messaging, I attended meetings with the CMO, agency, and Product Managers to talk through and develop the concept, I also worked with field marketing closely too, directing videos, and animation, in addition to working with an external crew, and contractors to help art direct content for lead generation, and for streaming on the day.

The
concept

After some research, I proposed that we tweaked the Matillion brand slightly to include a neon green, for testing purposes with engagement, and to make the event really stand out. In addition, introducing animation to Matillion assets too for the same reason.

 

This event brought in the highest amount of engagement and registrations to an event that Matillion had ever had.

The Promotion

Visuals were easy to navigate. Creating a powerful brand resource to utilize for watching

on-demand after the event too. This UI design ticks the 15 principles of good service design - including making sure it was usable by everyone - with (ASL) sign language available, transcripts, and audio,
